This weekend Emily and I went to the California Science Center to see the Body Worlds 3 exhibit. I was planning on going last year, but never did so I was excited to see real human bodies.

I wanted to capture everything on video so I brought my Flip Video Camcorder to record it all. The moment I stepped inside the exhibit I was told I had to delete everything I recorded. Luckily I managed to save what I had already done so this short video will show you a few of the images I saw.

This year the exhibit was called, Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS 3; The Story of the Heart.

A few of the images on my video were taken from the website so the copyright information is below:

I recently purchased a Flip Video Ultra Series camcorder after seeing it blasted all of the net. I was very surprised to see the quality of the video it took. Having a camcorder this size is so easy to bring everywhere as it fits inside my jeans pocket.

When I first saw this camcorder out of the box, I thought it was more like a toy because of its weight and plastic components, but after shooting some video I knew it had potential.

The Flip Video Ultra Series camcorder has lived up to all of my expectations and its low price of $119 at costco.com can’t be beat.

It was such a beautiful day, Emily and I decided to go hiking at Malibu Creek State Park. Normally on the weekends there are a lot of people and today was no exception. To avoid seeing so many people we entered the park through a side entrance. We managed to be alone for a good 20 minutes before seeing anyone else.

The trail is immaculately maintained and it felt so nice being away from the busy world for awhile.

The furthest point we got to was the Rock Pool and this was place everyone was out. It seemed that a lot of people like swimming in the water by the three large rocks. Some evened climbed up and braved jumping off what seemed like 100 feet into the water below.

I hope to go again when there are not as many people around. It takes away from nature I was looking for.

Two hours from now, I will complete all the required courses at the University of Phoenix to earn my Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management. While the last 21 months have provided an interesting experience, I have mixed emotions on the value of the education I have just paid for.

On one hand, having classes designed for adult students is very important. It allows people that work full-time jobs during the day, take classes at night, or even online anytime.

I chose the on-ground method where I attended class once a week for four hours and each class lasted only five weeks. Imagine taking a full semester of class work and trying to complete it in only five weeks. How much knowledge can you really retain?

I also have mixed feelings about the instructors. These are all business professionals with experience in their field. Just because a person is knowledgeable, it does not make them a good teacher. Some of the instructors I had, had no idea what they were talking about. Others taught material from the 1990s and it is 2008 right now.

To give the University of Phoenix credit, I did learn! I learned a lot about different personalities and working in teams. I also learned more about some of the things I had already learned in the corporate world. It gave me the opportunity to take what I learned and use it right away while not consciously thinking about it.

Overall I believe I got what I expected from the school.

For the longest time since the first iPod was released I starting pondering the question, Does only Apple get it? Many companies have designed mp3 players before Apple and many since, but none of them have come close to the design and functionality that Apple has developed.

Let’s take it a step further. Many companies like Motorola, Samsung, LG, Kyocera, and Palm have been developing mobile phones for years. They probably have spent millions of dollars in Research and Devleopment, but none have developed a device like the new iPhone. During his keynote address at the Macworld Conference & Expo 2007, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, Inc., announced this new mobile phone.

I have to imagine that Motorola can afford the same quality design team as Apple has, but wow… in only two years Apple developed a device like the iPhone. The best Motorola has done is with the Q and even that has its shortcomings. This isn’t only with Motorola. Take any mobile device company and look at their offerings. Do any of them have a device like the iPhone?

Right now other companies are meeting with their executives on how to compete with the new Apple and develop a copy of the iPhone. Many of these companies will develop a device semi-similar to the iPhone, but again none will actually get it. Somehow they will lose sight of what Apple does best; elegant devices with user friendly functionality that just works.

After reading this, many people will think I am an Apple fanatic and would say anything to support them. The truth is I don’t have or use any Apple products. I never purchased an iPod and don’t use a Mac, although I am strongly considering switching to a MacBook Pro once Leopard is released.

I am just one person who is puzzled why only Apple gets it. And as for Microsoft… let’s not go there.

Some time ago my girlfriend received a copy of The Secret on DVD. This feature length movie reveals The Great Secret of the universe. When I started watching the film I became quite skeptical about this secret, but continued watching with an open mind.

This great secret is The Power of Attraction. What this means is that your mind plays a part in how the universe reacts to you. Let’s say you start off your morning by waking up late for work. You continue your day with negative thoughts and your day keeps getting worse. Why? Because you are attracting negativity by your thoughts.

The film also says that you attract everything good as well. If you are looking for a new job, you have to imagine already having it and always be positive. According to the film, it is guaranteed to work every time.

While I really don’t know whether any of this is true and will work, what I do know is that being positive is healthy and helps get more out of life.

I’ve told my story many times, but today reflected upon the truth about my journey into public bathrooms. I should start off by saying that I like to be hygienically clean. I wash my hands after going to the bathroom or if I feel that my hands are dirty. I don’t think I am obsessive about it, however.

I have a ritual each time I wash my hands in a public bathroom so that by the time I leave, my hands aren’t infected with the disease of dirty uncleanly men.

Below is a step-by-step guide to follow:

1.	Release a few inches of paper towels. (see image for example) Don’t actually take them from the dispenser yet.
2.	Put soap on your hands, turn on the water, and wash away.
3.	Using the paper towels that were previously dispensed, turn off the water and dispense more paper towels. (Do not actually touch the dispenser or water facet with your hands)
4.	Once you dispense more paper towels, dispose of the ones you have used into the trash.
5.	With the newly dispensed paper towels, dry your hands and use them to open the bathroom door and exit. Be extremely cautious not to touch anything with your hands as you exit.

Following these simple, but effective steps, you can be assured that your hands will remain clean after washing them.

For those of you that may not understand the logic behind this process, you deserve all the bacteria and infestation that may come your way.
